Two Months and Counting...

Hello all,

Are you enjoying the terribly original title of my blog? I thought so. I was originally going to go with A Moveable Feast because (a) it's so delightfully literary and pretentious and (b) on my list of things I am excited about for next year, food is near or at the top. (Sad, but true). But, in the end, Gershwin kicked Hemingway's butt, which I'm sure could only happen on the Internet.

Anyway, I've clearly been laboring over the title for months, but since I leave from France exactly two months from today I decided I had to stop laboring and start talking about myself.

I figure most of you reading this already know me and where I'm going to be next year. But just in case, here's a recap:

I'm going to be spending the coming year (August 2009-May 2010) living and studying in Paris on the Sweet Briar Junior Year in France program. The living portion will be done with a host family, whose identity currently remains shrouded in mystery. The studying portion will be done at Université Paris-Sorbonne, aka Paris IV.

It definitely doesn't feel like I'm going to be leaving home in about 60 days, mostly because I still have seven weeks of work and a monstrous amount of packing to do between now and then. It doesn't sound like much, but considering that my room still looks like a minefield of college boxes, even unpacking is going to be a challenge. For now, my goal is just to soak up the summer and enjoy home as much as I can; I know I'm going to miss it next year.

My goal is to keep the blog updated at least once a week after I get to Europe, and to post photos/audio/video as much as possible. But you probably shouldn't hold me to that. I will post next week, after my visa appointment downtown, provided that an angry government official hasn't scared me out of going abroad.

Until then.
